Messages and Calls, in the new Social look
Messages and Calls now look and feel like the Feed and profiles: faces with story rings, clean conversations, calm bubbles and a simple calls list.
Messages and Calls were the last parts of Social in the older style. They now match the Feed, Search and profiles, and everything they did before still works.
- Your chats as a simple list: each person's face (with their story ring when they shared one), their name, the last line and when, and a dot for what you haven't read. Groups show two faces.
- Chats and Calls sit side by side at the top, with Saved messages and New message beside them.
- A conversation opens with a clean header: their face, name and username (a tap opens their profile), then voice and video calls. Search, shared media and the other options are in the ⋯ menu.
- The start of each conversation shows who it's with, and View profile.
- Bubbles group the way you know from iMessage: messages sent close together sit as one run, and replies show what they answer above them.
- A calmer message bar: + to attach your work or a poll, then one field with emoji and stickers, a voice message and a video message, and the send arrow once you've written something.
- Calls: New meeting and New call side by side, a field to join with a link or code, then Coming up and Recent with faces. Missed calls are in red, and calling back is one tap.
