Send any file in Messages
Photos, videos and files of any kind now go straight from your device into a chat, with progress you can cancel, and only the people in the chat can open them.
The + in a chat now starts with Photo or video and File, as in Telegram.
- Photos and videos go as an album, lighter copies that show right in the chat. Switch Compress photos off to send the originals as files.
- Any file goes: documents, sheets, slides, PDFs, archives, sound, code. Each shows its type, its name and its size.
- Big files go up in pieces, so a dropped connection carries on where it stopped. A ring shows how far it is; ✕ cancels, Retry tries again. Files up to 500 MB, counted in your storage.
- A tap opens it: pictures and videos full screen, PDFs page by page, text and code as plain text, sound in the chat's player; anything else downloads.
- On a computer, drop files on a chat or paste them into the field.
- Reply, forward, pin and save work with files, search finds them by name, and deleting a message for everyone deletes its files too.
- Only the people in the conversation can open its files, checked by the database on every read. Nothing in a file ever runs: web pages and scripts are only ever downloaded or read as text.
Calls say what happened
A call card in a chat now shows the time you were really talking, never the hours a call link was left open. A call nobody answered reads Missed call, and Cancelled call to the person who rang.
