Calls that connect, captions in your language, and a brief after every work call

Calls start and stay connected, captions understand dozens of languages, and work calls suggest tasks as you talk and end with a brief and the full transcript.

The Messages app icon

We rebuilt how calls connect, so they start when you tap and keep going when the network wobbles.

  • Before you join: a microphone level, a test sound for your speakers and a check of your network.
  • Calls keep themselves alive: a link that stalls or freezes reconnects by itself, Reconnecting… shows while it does, and Try again appears if it can't.
  • A call nobody answers stops ringing after a minute and shows as missed. Calls that ended no longer show as going on.
  • When our call server is on, every call goes through it for steadier video with more people. Those calls are encrypted on the way, not end to end, and the call says so; calls straight between devices stay end to end, with the safety code.

Captions in your language

  • Captions now understand dozens of languages and find yours by themselves, or pick it once and it's remembered.
  • They work on iPhone too: each person's device writes down their own voice.
  • The price shows before you turn them on, and only speech is counted.

Work calls

  • Calls from tasks, tickets, scheduled meetings and team workspaces are work calls; the host can switch any call to one. Calls with friends stay plain: no notes, no transcript.
  • With notes on, everyone sees it, and the transcript is written live with names and times.
  • Suggestions as you talk: add a task for someone with a date, schedule the follow-up, start a document, site or deck with the brief, or note a decision. Each one opens a preview first.
  • When the call ends, the brief is ready: summary, decisions, action items with owners and dates, open questions and a follow-up message, in the call's language or yours.
  • Save it to the knowledge base, create the tasks, schedule the follow-up, and download the transcript as text or Word.
